Artisan Radio is a website dedicated to the art of micro powered, unlicensed, but legal, radio transmission in Canada.
We are located in beautiful British Columbia. Our transmitters are certified for over-the-air use under the RSS-210 (AM) and BETS-1 (FM) regulations by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED), which governs the radio spectrum.
Over-the-air broadcasting in Canada is controlled by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC), and all broadcasters, except for certain exemptions, have to obtain a broadcast license. BETS-1 transmitters are included in these license exemptions.
Our objective is to provide historical radio programming and information that other radio stations don't or can't. All Artisan Radio audio content is in the public domain in Canada.
Here is our schedule. The day is broken into 4 x 6 hour blocks, and is designed to make specific programs more accessible. This will ensure that no matter when your free time is, you should be able to listen to what you want. We change things around periodically, so check it out every once in a while.
Click on this link (or on the above illustration) to listen to the Artisan Radio internet stream. It is geo blocked for all countries but Canada.
And if you're wondering what our over-the-air transmissions sound like, you can tune into our Software Defined Radio (SDR), which provides access to the AM broadcast band. Our RSS-210 transmitter is used to feed a signal to the SDR; per ISED rules, it cannot be used for broadcasting.
Finally, if you have any concerns with our operation, or programming, please contact us at this e-mail address.
